Downtown Denver’s Only Off-Track Betting Site Opens Early as California Chrome Runs in Quest for the Triple Crown
DENVER (May 9, 2014) – The Celtic Tavern, downtown Denver’s popular Irish pub and only off-track betting facility, will open early on Saturday, May 17 for one of horse racing’s most prestigious events, the Running of the Preakness Stakes at the Pimlico racetrack in Baltimore, Maryland. The pub and betting booths will open at 8:30 a.m. Guests can place their bets, watch coverage at 2.30 then cheer for their picks at 4:30 p.m. MDT as it airs on large screen televisions throughout the tavern and in sister-pub, Delaney’s, next door. Kentucky Derby winner and fan favorite, California Chrome, will be vying for a win in the second leg of an attempt at the Triple Crown. A live Dixieland Jazz Band and $5.50 Mint Juleps and Stella Artois will keep the party going – the Stella chalice is yours to keep. No reservations required.
